North Hollywood is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley and has been touted as one of the only few neighborhoods in the region accessible by subway. Unlike the name suggests, North Hollywood is not located in Hollywood and is closer to Los Angeles. The area became officially recognized as North Hollywood in 1927 and was previously known as Lankershim. It is considered moderately diverse housing people from different ethnic backgrounds.
Bordering North Hollywood, to the North is the Sun Valley, East by Burbank and on the western side by Valley Glen. There's no direct access to Hollywood from North Hollywood as other parts of San Fernando Valley separate them. Having had a slow start in population and economic growth, The revitalization of North Hollywood was through establishing the North Hollywood station and NoHo Arts District in the early 2000s.
Since then, the community has continued to grow, attracting new residents from the San Fernando Valley and the greater Los Angeles. The most notable attraction sites in North Hollywood are; Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park, and Portal of the Folded Wings Shrine of Aviation.
There's a subway that connects to East Hollywood, Koreatown, and downtown Los Angeles. Transport is not limited to the subway system; Bob Hope airport provides lots of utilities for transport. Many freeways make it easier to access the different regions in North Hollywood.
North Hollywood is home to many academic institutions, including; Bellingham Primary Center Elementary School, Maurice Sendak Elementary School, Victory Boulevard Elementary School, North Hollywood High school, James Madison Middle School, The Science Academy STEM Magnet, a preparatory college, 5525 Vineland Avenue, North Hollywood Adult Learning Center and many others. The small bungalow residential areas that once were popular in North Hollywood are being phased out and replaced with larger apartment complexes to cater to the ever-increasing population.
North Hollywood's most popular recreation center is the resource-rich North Hollywood Recreation Center, which borders the Valley Village. Another famous recreational park is the Valley Plaza Recreation Center in North that also has a lot to offer, ranging from open playgrounds to indoor gyms.
North Hollywood has combined diversity, history, arts, and entertainment to create one of the most hospitable places in San Fernando Valley.
